Check out what’s back and better with the iOS 11.4 public beta

If you’ve been holding off installing the latest update on your iOS 11 due to all the horror stories regarding battery drainage and user hostility, you might be pleased to know that Apple is public beta testing iOS 11.4.1.

Just like previous iOS 11 releases, the iOS 11.4 is compatible with the iPhone 5 and later models, iPad mini 2 and later models, and the 6th generation iPod touch and later models. Let’s run through what you can expect if you give this beta a go:

What’s you need to know about the iOS 11.4 beta:

Some big features that we’ve seen in previous betas have made a comeback, such as the fully supported AirPlay 2, iCloud messages and stereo pairing.

  • Airplay 2: This allows for multiroom playback, and pairing up of two HomePods for stereo audio. You can see which devices are supported by tapping on the AirPlay icon and going to the Control Centre.
  • iCloud messages: You can sync message app data through iCloud, which means that if you delete messages on one device, it will be deleted on all other devices and Macs.
  • Stereo pairing: A stereo pairing option within the Home app will be available.

If you want to try out this iOS update, Reboot can show you how to install it. It’s important to note that running betas on any device can leave you vulnerable to bugs and other user issues.
